This benefits both the customer and the movers. This class teaches Crew Chiefs exactly what must be completed correctly. This class focuses on: - How to fill out and explain each page to the customer - Which items must be signed before the move can begin - What each waiver means and the situations when each one should be signed - Which fields must be signed to complete the job Driving Navigating a 24' truck packed with a customer's belongings is much different than driving a passenger car. We spend time ensuring that each driver is knowledgeable about the differences. Some of the points that are covered are: - Understanding the proper use and function of all of the parts of the truck - How and when to use a lift gate or a ramp - General safe driving habits - How to act as a spotter for a driver (used when backing the truck up or navigating a difficult turn) DOT Compliance The Department of Transportation is the governing agency for all motor carrier companies, such as CBM. They have set up rules and regulations to protect each company's customers, and it is very important that CBM be compliant with all of them. In this class we inform the movers which regulations apply to them and what they need to do to adhere to them. Some of the points are: - How to fill out a log book, which records the number of hours a driver has been working. This helps the customers by ensuring they do not receive movers that are over-tired. - How to check the general functions of the truck. If a check is not done, CBM could not guarantee a customer that the truck is in good working order and will not break down on the way to the move. Because the drivers and the truck manager check the truck daily, CBM can make this guarantee. - The paperwork necessary for each driver and truck to have at all times while on the road. The customer benefits from this because he or she will know they have movers and equipment that are legal and functional. |
